Build A Stand...SPARK A DREAM!
On Sunday, June 6, 2010, the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT), Maffe Foundation, East Hartford ChildPlan, Inc. and Goodwin College, sponsored Lemonade Day in East Hartford, CT for the very first time! Lemonade Day is an annual city-wide event that is designed to teach youth ages K-12 how to start, own and operate their own lemonade business. Through a fun, interactive cirriculum, participants are trained in the fundamentals of sound business and financial management. Youth learn how to create budgets, secure investors, select a site, purchase supplies, serve customers, set profit-making goals, re-pay investors and give back to their community. Our vision for this program is to create meaningful, sustainable change in some of the underprivileged neighborhoods of Connecticut by integrating life skills, character building and entrepreneurship to produce financially literate youth who positively impact their communities. Youth are hungry for information about how to succeed in life, and Lemonade Day gives them the tools that they need to reach their goals! If you would like to become a part of Lemonade Day 2011, please contact Sarah Putnam at (860) 290-8788 x208 or e-mail info@maffefoundation.com. Kids register, with a caring adult, a recieve a bright yellow backpack which contains an entrepreneur workbook for the child and a caring adult guide! the entrepreneur workbook contains 14 lesson plans to help the child reach their goals. Lemonade Day Involves the entire community! Lemonade Day requires a partnership of community leaders, sponsors and volunteers to come together for a common purpose- to empower youth to take ownership of their own lives and become productive members of society- the business leaders, social advocates, volunteers, and forward-thinking citizens of tomorrow. it incorporates every aspect of the community, including families, businesses, youth organizations, community-based groups, and schools.
